This article reports the first confirmed case of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection in Romania.
The patient, a 67-year-old woman from Oradea, is hospitalized but in stable condition.
The virus, which causes symptoms similar to the common cold and flu, is circulating in China and was first identified in Europe in 2001.
An epidemiological investigation is underway to determine the source of the infection in Romania since the woman did not travel internationally.
